Upon entering UAB’s new Women and Infants Center, you might think you are in a first-class hotel, rather than a world-class health care facility dedicated solely to the care of women and infants – care that has been ranked among the best in the country by US News and World Report.
The two-story atrium lobby is flooded with natural light and will look out onto the Limbaugh Park of Hope, an inviting and spacious green space where patients and visitors alike can find a quite place to relax and reflect. Gentle curved walls meander through the 400,000-square-foot building, appointed with warm natural wood, sophisticated marble and colorful mosaic tile. Soft neutral tones in the private patient rooms give way to bright green, blue, gold and salmon hues in the infant areas.
Everything in the new Women and Infants Center has been designed with patient comfort and family-centered care in mind. This welcoming environment will be home to UAB’s highly-trained and compassionate physicians, nurses and other health professionals, as well as advanced services and sophisticated state-of-the-art medical technology dedicated to healthy and high-risk pregnant women, healthy and high-risk newborns, and women receiving care for a variety of gynecological problems, including gynecological cancers.
