A comprehensive set of services for those seeking diagnosis and treatment options for cancer.

M9 Thoracic Surgery Unit

The M9 Thoracic Surgery Unit consists of 19 private rooms, staffed by ACLS certified RNs with specialized training in the care of the thoracic surgery patient with Lung and Esophageal Cancer. The primary focus of care is pain management, pulmonary management, early ambulation, and aggressive physical therapy. Utilizing a fast-track protocol developed specifically for this patient population by Dr. Robert Cerfolio and his staff, the patient is assisted in a return to optimal functioning with an avoidance of complications. The goal of the recovery plan is to help the patient gain independence in their personal care and daily activities before their return home. As a patient-family focused treatment center, a multidisciplinary team approach is utilized to care for the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the thoracic surgery patient and their family during the surgical recovery stage.
