Caring Nurses at UAB
|
At UAB, our nurses use state-of-the-art technology to care for our patients. But it’s the care we provide through a shoulder to lean on or a hand to hold that sets us apart. It’s stronger medicine.
We care for our patients as if they are a part of our family. We’re there to provide not only quality medicine, but superior face-to-face care that shows our commitment to compassion as well. When you’re treated at UAB, you feel better because our nurses know the value of a reassuring word or a listening ear.
UAB nursing. Stronger medicine.

Our fingerprints are forever engrained in each patient that we touch. Our care is compassionate and we are truly dedicated to our profession making a difference one day at a time.
Nursing means putting the patient and their family first. Being their advocate. We make sure we’re on the journey with them, especially when a patient is battling cancer.
Our nurses take an active role in being part of the patient’s family. We treat each patient like she’s our mother, sister, etc. We’re there to hold her hand. It’s not always about talking – sometimes you just need to listen to the patient’s needs and wants.

I continue to be amazed at the inventiveness, integrity, perseverance and professionalism of one of the strongest forces I've ever encountered - the UAB nurse. Across our organization, day after day, shift after shift, we see examples of nurses absolutely walking the talk of our vision statement: 'We will be a collective voice of leadership in the practice of professional nursing, fearless in our pursuit to provide the most innovative compassionate care to our community one patient at a time.'
